Story
The Taurens believe that nature is the Earthmother. The Tauren have a deep connection with the nature and the earth, they praise their ancestors and spirits, and they turn to them when they seek wisdom and guidance. The Taurens are an old race, older then the Night Elves even. They do have a lot of similarities with the Night Elves, mainly their thoughts and concerns about nature.
For many generations the Tauren hunted the mighty kodo on the Mulgore plains and were looking for the wisdom of the Earthmother, their eternal goddess. Their cities, made from tents and totems were scattered across Kalimdor. The many Tauren tribes were united through a hatred for their arch enemy, the Marauding Centaur.

The Centaur armies were bigger and more ruthless than the Centaur tribes. This was why their chieftain, Cairne Bloodhoof, turned to the strange green-skinned warriors that arrived on the eastern shore, and asked for their help. Cairne and a hand full of his Tauren Warriors came just in time to help the Orcs fight of an attack of a band of Centaurs. This was the first step of earning each other’s trust and they were able to see that both the Orcs and Taurens were worthy warriors, which shared a love for battle and honour.
The Trolls and Orcs saw that the Taurens as well, were more of a shamanistic culture and were eager to place the Taurens under the Horde banner.
With the help of the Orcs and the Trolls, Cairne and his tribe fought the centaur and drove them back to Desolace. The grasslands of Mulgore were free of danger and could be claimed by the Tauren, finally they had a land that these nomads could call their own. This is the reason why the Tauren would always be in debt to their new allies, the Orcs and the Trolls. It was on Thunder Bluff where Cairne and his tribe made a refuge for nomad Taurens and welcomed Taurens from all the tribes. In time, all the scattered tribes pledged allegiance under Cairne’s rule.

Racial Advantages
The Taurens truly have some powerful racial abilities and one of my personal favorites of all the racial abilities out there, is the ability called Endurance, which improves the Taurens base health by 5%. Especially for the tanking Tauren Warriors this is a nice enhancement. Another great ability is their Warstomp, all the Taurens are able to stomp the ground causing the enemies near them to be stunned for 2 seconds. It is great to disrupt spells and can give an edge in PvP and PvE situations.

Close to nature as they are, the Taurens also get 5 bonus points to their Herbalism if they decide to take this profession and they have a passive Nature Resistance which allows them to avoid Nature spells and effects by an additional 2%.
