Priest class - From the light and shadows

The light and shadows formed this unique class of casters, making it an excellent healer as well as a top dpser. Priest’s talent trees allow him to be both great pve and pvp player. If a player chooses to play this class on the Alliance side he can choose from four different races: Human, Night Elves, Dwarfs or Draenei. If a player decides to be on the Horde side he can choose between: Trolls, Undead or Blood Elves. A Priest might not be the most fun or the fastest class when it comes to leveling, but after leveling you will definitely be the most desirable class in dungeon parties and raids, both in healing and dps spec. Let’s have a look at priest’s talent trees:

Discipline

We can surely advise you not to take a full Discipline build if you want to be a good healer or a dps, but if you are up for playing a bit of pvp or doing arena’s this is definitely a build for you! A Discipline Priest with a lot of resilience on his gear is the far most difficult class to kill and yet can heal up his partner/s and himself nicely. Combined with two of the most important discipline spells, Power infusion and Pain Suppression, a Discipline Priest is a pleasure to play when it comes to pvp. Two other important spells when it comes to both pvp and pve are of course Improved Power Word: Fortitude and Improved Divine Spirit. Another nice spell to have and requires just one point in the discipline tree is Inner Focus. It is a spell with 3 minutes cooldown but still it is very useful in any critical situation since it allows priests to cast any spell without using mana and gives an extra 25% crit chance to the spell.

Holy

Holy priests have a pure healing build. They can still do some damage but if you want to be a dps priest this definitely isn’t the right build for you. Healing Priests could put most of the points in the holy talents but also could combine the Holy tree with discipline talents, which would make them a hybrid. A holy priest with just one point spent in the Spirit of Redemption talent can heal up his group for 15 seconds after his death by turning himself in the Spirit Healer. With also just one point in the Circle of Healing talent, a Priest can heal up to 5 friendly targets within 15 yards. With just 6 seconds cooldown, this spell became one of the favorite healing spells for Holy Priests. Last spell in the holy tree that came with Wrath of the Lich King expansion is Guardian Spirit. A priest can call upon a spirit that will guard a friendly target and increase the amount of healing on him. A guardian spirit will also prevent the target to die by sacrificing himself and healing the target for 50% of their maximum health within 10 seconds.

Shadow

A Shadow Priest is a damage dealer, easy to play and has some benefits that your party might find useful. By putting Vampiric Embrace on the target you will be healed for 15% and your party members for 3% of the damage you deal. Vampiric touch is also a useful spell because it returns the mana to you and your group. A Shadow Priest is able to deal good damage only while in shadow form and by being in this form he cannot heal. Most of his spells are instant which makes him a fast damage dealer, both useful for pve and pvp.
