A Paladin is a symbol of truth and all that’s good and is a fierce enemy of evil. As one of the hybrid classes in WOW a Paladin can be a healer, a tank or dps. With good use of his skills and plate armor, a Paladin is really hard to kill, which makes him an annoying opponent in pvp.
If you choose to play a Pally you can decide between the following races: Human, Dwarf, Draenei on Alliance side and Blood Elf on Horde side. As for spec, in pvp there are two definitely good builds, holy which is a healing build or retribution, which is a pure dps build. For pve a Protection Paladin is quite useful since he can be an aoe tank, meaning he could tank multiple targets with ease compared to other tanks. Another thing that made Paladins desirable in groups and raids are their blessings and auras. The skill that made Paladins famous is Divine Shield, popularly called “bubble”, which allows a Paladin to become immune to all attacks and spells for 12 seconds but it does reduce the damage output by 50% for the duration. Divine Intervention is another nice skill. When used on a party/raid member the target will receive a bubble and will be removed from combat for 3 minutes. Once the danger is gone the bubble can be removed and the person can resurrect the dead party/raid members.

Holy Paladins
Holy Paladins are famous for their short and fast flash heals and always full mana. When it comes to the gear, a Holy Pally will need a lot of crit and spell power since his heals are cheap when it comes to spending mana. Holy Paladins are perfect for single target healing. Their raid/group would also love them for their Improved Blessing of Wisdom, a blessing that returns mana to the caster. This blessing is especially important for healers. Improved Concentration Aura is also nice if you have other healers and casters in the group because it will allow casting without interruption.
Protection Paladins
Prot Pallys are mostly used when multiple targets need to be tanked. A Paladin is an aoe tank, meaning he tanks with the use of aoe spells and therefore he is a good use in raids. One of the important talents a protection tree has is Improved Blessing of Kings. This blessing when applied gives increased stats, which is really nice for any class in the group/raid. Improved Devotion Aura is also nice because it increases the armor bonus and the amount healing received on the targets affected by it.
Retribution Paladins
Ret Pallys are pure dps. They are really good in pvp but are not so popular in pve. They are usually thought of to be higher value to the group/raid, being healers or tanks. This also changed through time and Ret Pallys have been given a chance to prove themselves as a spec that can be high on the damage meters as well. Dps Warriors, Melee Shamans, Feral Druids and Rogues will love a Ret Pally in their group because of the Improved Blessing of Might, which will increase their attack power.
