Story
Over a dozen thousand years ago, there was a sect known as the Highborne. They had a lust for magic and wielded forms of magic that other elves thought of to be heretical. They used the powers given to them by the Well of Eternity for their magic, as well as for opening a number of portals which allowed the Burning Legion to enter Azeroth. The war of the Ancients was the result. After the imploding of the Well of Eternity which caused The Sundering, the Highborne were exiled from the continent of Kalimdor and they made the kingdom of Qual’Thalas.
The Highborne created the Sunwell and entered a diurnal waking cycle. Their skin slowly and miraculously faded and became much alike to the skin that can be seen on some Dwarves and Humans.
In the beginning of the Third War, Arthas sent his Scourge armies to Quel’Thalas, corrupted the Sunwell and burned Quel’Thalas to the ground. Sworn to avenge those that had fallen by the Scourge troops, the Highborne renamed themselves into Blood Elves, aka Sin’Dorei, ‘Children of the Blood’. They still carry this name today.
Since most of the Blood Elves were gone, their city burned, and their precious Sunwell got corrupted, leaving them with less magical powers, the Blood Elves formed an Alliance with the Naga. Directly seen as a traitorous act by the Alliance, they got sentenced to death.
The Horde however, saw a new ally in their war against the Scourge. The Forsaken especially, are working closely together with the Blood Elves to destroy the entire Scourge that can be found in the northern parts of the Eastern Kingdom.

Classes
The magical addicted race of Blood Elves can be played by us and we get to choose from the following classes if we decide to make a Blood Elf:
Advantages
The Blood Elves have several nice racial abilities. To begin with, they have an Arcane Affinity which gives them 10 bonus points to their enchanting profession when they decide to become enchanters. They also have a natural Magical Resistance which allows them to avoid 2% of all spells from all the schools of magic.
Besides these passive racial abilities they have a racial ability that comes with a two minute cooldown and can be used to silence opponents for 2 seconds AND instantly restores 6% of their total mana or, in the Rogue’s case, 15 Energy. This racial ability is called Arcane Torrent and is not only great for PvP to silence your enemy for 2 seconds and interrupt any spell casting, it is also very nice in PvE where that mana bonus and extra energy will make you last longer without going oom (out of mana) and improve your damage.
