Story
The Night Elves, or Kaldorei , today led by Tyrande Whisperwind and Arch-Druid Fandral Staghelm, have a long history. The gods, Titans that brought order to many worlds, created the Well of Eternity at the base of the World Tree. The true history of the Night Elves brings up some question marks by many. Some say they are mutated Trolls, because both Trolls and Night Elves have long pointy ears, but no evidence or proof was ever shown. We do know that they became the protectors of the Well of Eternity, a life bringing well.

After many wars and losses, including the Ancient War, The Sundering and the Third War, the Night Elves joined the Alliance during the battle at Mount Hyjal. United, with the Horde, they were able to stop the Legion.
The Night Elves, made the city of Darnassus, which is their main capital today. The World tree can be found in this great city. The Night Elves maintained their relationship with the Alliance but got fierce when they found out that the Horde had several lumber camps in Ashenvale and were damaging the nature on a daily basis.
If you decide to play a Night Elf you will start your adventure on the island of Teldrassil, home of Darnassus and Shadow Glen. Your journey will then take you through Darkshore, Ashenvale and the other zones in Kalimdor and The Eastern Kingdom.

Advantages
Probably the biggest advantage of playing a Night Elf is that they are capable to meld in the shadows. The ability called Shadowmeld has recently been through a makeover and can now be used in combat, removing one out of battle in some occasions. The passive racial ability called Elusiveness adds an extra bonus to the Shadowmeld affect and makes the Night Elf less likely to be detected while Shadowmeld is active. Elusiveness also gives the Night Elf Rogues and Druids in Cat form an edge in some situations, as it also boosts their stealth capabilities.
The Night Elves also have several passive racial abilities: Nature Resistance and Quickness. Nature Resistance gives all Night Elves an additional 5% Nature Resistance while Quickness reduces the chance that you’ll be hit by ranged and melee hits by 2%.
Another cool racial ability, which is less useful in combat but can save you quite an amount of time and boredom, is Wisp Spirit. Wisp Spirit is also a passive racial ability and allows you to move 75% faster while you’re dead. It definitely makes corps running a bit less annoying.
The Night Elves are part of the Darnassus faction. The long eared Night Elves with their tall bodies have proven to be masters in battle for many years.
