Story
The Titans, the Ancient Gods, creators of worlds, created a specie called the Earthen as their little helpers to give shape to the world of Azeroth. The Earthen, connected with the earth, felt massive pain when the Well of Eternity exploded and the entire Azeroth got ruined. The Earthen returned to their place of creations; Uldaman, Uldur, and Ulduar, where they hibernated and did not awake for over 8000 years.
When they awoke they realized that their powers, as well as their rock-like skin were gone, and replaced by a smooth skin. Those of the Earthen that retreated to Uldaman, from there on known as dwarves, travelled to the top of a mountain in Dun Morogh where they made a stronghold, the city known as Ironforge.
There were 3 factions in Ironforge back then: The Bronzebeard Clan, the Wildhammer Clan and the Dark Iron Clan. When the High King Anvilmar died, a civil war broke loose, resulting in the Bronzebeard Clan taking control of Ironforge, the Wildhammer clan taking control of the Wetlands and the Dark Iron Clan making their new home in the Redridge Mountains.
The Dark Iron Clan went on a warpath against both other clans and this resulted in accidently releasing Ragnaros, a fierce Fire Elemental that made puppets out of the Dark Iron Clan. The Wetlands, because of the Dark Iron sorcery, became too hard to live and this made the Wildhammer Clan move north, into the Hinterlands where they made the city of Aerie Peak. The Wildhammer Clan grew closer with nature and managed to tame and ride the well known Gryphons.
The Bronzebeard Clan, or Ironforge Clan, is now led by King Magni Bronzebeard. They still can be found in the stronghold Ironforge.
If you decide to play a dwarf, you will start in Dun Morogh and your main faction will be Ironforge. You will travel to Loch Modan and the Wetlands and then venture through the rest of Azeroth.

Classes
Don’t let their height fool you, the Dwarves are as powerful in battle as any other race.
As a Dwarf, you can choose from several classes:
Advantages
The Dwarves have a racial ability called Stoneform. It can be used to increase the dwarfs’ armor by 10% for 8 seconds but more importantly, it instantly removes any bleed, poison and disease effects. It comes with a 3 minute cooldown but has proven to be very useful during some fights with some bosses where these kinds of effects cause serious damage.
The Dwarves also have few passive racial abilities. Mace specialization gives a boosts to the expertise rating of all dwarves that wear Maces while the Frost Resistance reduces their vulnerability to frost damage. Thanks to the Gun Specialization the dwarves that are capable of wearing a gun, have their chance to critically hit improved by one percent.
Then there is another nice feature the Dwarves have, they can locate treasures with their Find Treasure tracking ability.
